Another Big Step Forward for OpenID as MySpace Signs On

July 21, 2008 – 11:31 am

As reported by TechCrunch, MySpace To Join OpenID, Bringing Total Enabled Accounts to Over A Half Billion.

This seems like a huge step forward for OpenID - *especially* if they can simplify the whole thing somehow and make it easier for end users to understand and use.

Last time I seriously looked into OpenID, it was still rather confusing to use, from an end user perspective. Of course, if it is done right - then it should be more or less seamless to users.

The other key bit of information here is that TechCrunch states that MySpace “may” also be working on code that will enable other sites to take advantage of MySpace data that extends out via the OpenID system.

What does that mean? That means that any system that allows its users to sign on using their MySpace OpenID might also be able to bring some of that Users data into the user experience of that site.

Now, if can just find a straight forward way to enable Pligg to work with OpenID! That seems like a match made in heaven, if you ask me.
